i have small bumps all over my palms and fingers. they itch like crazy. what is the cause? the bumps don't get on the back of my hands. I have tried changing body wash, dish detergent, laundry detergent, etc. Nothing seems to help the problem. Sometimes during the night my palms and fingers itch so bad they keep me awake. I have tried antibiotic cream and anti-itch creams nothing helps. Please advise

Hi Bumps on the fingers may due to dermatitic skin conditions or it may be infectious in origin. Dishydrosis and herpetic whitlow may present as clear bumps or vesicles. Herpetic whitlow may present as whitish bumps on a reddish base. They may itch or burn and may recur. As for dishydrosis, this appears as clear vesicles with a thick membrane covering. It may eventually itch and initiate an itch scratch cycle which may lead to an eczematous skin disease. There is no definite medical treatment for dishydrotic eczema which I believe may be your case. Topical corticosteroids may be able to help. Avoid frequently washing the hands or prolonged exposure to water. This may only worsen your condition.
