patch towards the back left on tongue -pink in color and to the tip of tongue as well -sort of like when something hot scalds you .

	patches that look like scalds or burns on tongue towards the back on the left and to the tip of tongue as well but i was not burnt. There is a funny sensation or a slight soreness. what might that be?

	Answer by Dr Noopur S, MD (doctor) on Wed 06, Aug 2008 06:21am: Hi, How are you? It is very difficult to pin point the exact diagnosis without a clinical exam. There is a possibility that these are due to an infection or a tongue ulcer. Bacterial or fungal infection like candida can cause dark colored lesions on the tongue along with soreness. Long term antibiotic therapy can also cause similar lesions. Please get it checked out.
