okay sorry if this is a little long don't want to leave out any symptoms. i am a 23 year old female waiting on medical insurance before going to the doctor so i just want to know what i can do until then. in the past two weeks i have been feeling fatigue, weak and have had spells of lightheadness. i have not fainted as of yet. i have anemia. after i eat i feel weak and tired. i also have a decreased appeite. the reason i am writing is because the last spell happened last night while at work. i had just got done eating and i took an advil for a mild headache with supper i had my first caffeine drink of the day mountain dew. within 30 mins i experienced the lightheadness and i was weak. i tried sitting down but it made me feel worse. so to keep myself alert i had to walk around it took me at least 20 minutes to recover.during the periods of lightheadness mine heartbeat will speed up. i took my blood pressure today it was 90/68 and pulse was 83 but i feel fatigued. what can i do?

Answer by Dr.Bhumika Aggarwal (doctor) on Thu 29, Jan 2009 12:51am:

You could be suffering from hypoglycemia, hypotension, dizziness due to anemia, electrolyte imbalance or some other neurological cause. You should visit your doctor to get blood tests done including blood sugar, sodium, potassium levels, etc to rule out the above causes. The further plan of management would depend on the diagnosis. Till then you can see if eating a balanced diet, adding salt and sugar to your water, etc help.
