Asked by beryle wood (Female; 50; psoriatic athritis 15 years; Relevant drugs:prednoionse ) on Fri 04, Dec 2009 03:39am :

I have chronic psoriasis and have been to numerous dermatologists, naturopaths, chinese herbalists, psoriasis clinic practioner, been to China to see a doctor and had acupunture and prescribed herbal tablets, had allergy blood and RAST test, puva treatment, arava, nerol, methatrexate tablets, phernagon, numerous topical cream and coal tar preparations, steriods creams (diprozone, aristocort just to name the ones I can remember .- stomach injections include humira and enbrel and loads more medication with no luck. I have tried the sulphur pooland mineral pools in the south island of New Zealand. This has been with me for 15 years. Stress has triggered this. My younger brother gets a little bit of psoriasis but very mild compared to me. There is one else in the family history that I can find. I have never had it in remission and it is getting worse each day. I scratch constantly and that is making it worst but I cant stop it.The skin is red raw it stings and constantly itches.....HELP...I am at my wits end what to to get rid of this or at least steady it down and get in remission hopefully.... Any relief will be a blessing ...Please please hopefully you maybe able to help me. Sincerley Beryle Wood

Hi there. Welcome to the forum! I want to tell you one thing that there is no permanent cure of psoriasis. Some people have it in a mild and some in severe form. Psoriasis is a very chronic and recurrent condition. There is only symptomatic treatment of psoriasis. Treatment for psoriasis remains suppressive, rather than curative. Treatment of articular manifestations generally begins with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents. However, in patients with aggressive and potentially destructive disease, disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs should be added early on in the course. You have to avoid triggering factors. Please keep us posted for any further queries. Hope this helps you. Thanks and regards!
