Answer by Dr. Harsha Priolcar (doctor) on Thu 26, Nov 2009 12:04am:

Hello, Bronchitis is the inflammation of the lining of the trachea, lungs and the rest of the respiratory tree, that follows an attack of Viral Flu, upper respiratory infection or acute sinusitis. Cough is a common symptom, often severe, dry or with phlegm, and may last 2 weeks or longer in chronic cases. Wheezing may be present. Diagnosis is generally based on symptoms and a physical examination. Hope this helps. Take care. More details at http://www.emedicinehealth.com/bronchitis/article_em.htm
