Hi there.
Weight gain is a function of total calorie balance and metabolic rate. The medications that are available now
for gaining weight are supposedly just to stimulate appetite so that you can take in more calories. Calories
are important in gaining or losing weight, while nutrients such as vitamins and minerals are more for boosting
immunity and bone and muscle function and development.
You should analyze first on what part of the equation you are missing. It can be that you are taking in less
calories and expending more. The metabolic rate of teen agers are usually higher and will slow down at about
30 years of age. Some conditions such as thyrotoxicosis can lead to an increased metabolic rate.
Calories should come from mostly carbohydrates (about 60%) from rice, bread, grains, or potatoes. About 20%
should come from fats.
Vitamin B complex may increase appetite as well as combinations of this vitamins with Buclizine. I suggest
you discuss this first with your doctor before taking these medications.
Regards and God bless.
