I started a new job about a year ago, started noticing sm red pimples (blisters) on the palm of my left hand. It went to my
right hand then back and forth, some have puss inside others are clear liquid, the I noticed a sm patch about the size of a
silver dollar on the bottom of my right foot. I use cloth gloves most of the time on my job and use latex only about a half
hour most nights. The only thing that I use on a regular basis is the hand soap. Sweeping and mopping seems to make them more
irratated and brings out more bumps, they itch some when they fill up and holding a handle causes some to hurt so I end up
popping them.
Thanks!

Answer by VanessaMD (doctor) on Tue 19, Aug 2008 08:22pm:
Hi
Based on your post, your job seems to entail wearing gloves at most times. This may predispose to contact or
allergic dermatitis. There are reported incidence of skin sensitivity to latex gloves. Frequent hand washing
and use of abrasive soaps may also lead to irritant dermatitis. Dermatitic skin conditions may lead to an itch
scratch cycle that may eventually cause excoriations on the skin. The result is a weeping rash which is
already eczematous. This may be your case. An overlying bacterial or fungal infection may be present which may
delay healing.
I suggest that you wash your hands using a mild cleanser only. Covering the affected areas with a sterile
gauze while wearing gloves may decrease contact of the skin with the material. There is no definite treatment
for eczema. Topical corticosteroids and antibiotics may help especially when bacterial and fungal infections
are present.
Refrain from picking on the bumps. This only aggravates the condition.
Have you had this checked by you doctors already?

I have had what has been described by doctor's as occupational dermatisit to yeast infection to eczema on
the palms of my hands and fingers for 5 years. Nothing I was given or prescribed (over the counter and
prescriptions) has worked I've tried using non-perfumed soaps and detergents-baby products, etc. No doctor
wants to take the time to find out why this is occuring -telling me I have to deal with it.It started with a
dry itch on one finger,on one hand to blisters that itched and broke to a White flour looking rash to cracking
and bleeding situtation all over my hands and starting down my wrists. There is nothing on the face of my hands
and I do not have it on my feet. Last year I had spots on my scalp behind my ears and under my breast and
groin area and a strip across my belly. That went away but now the scalp thing is starting and I do not think I
can take another year of this.My hands hurt so bad I find it torture to do anything; especially washing my
hands.I've been on waiting lists for Dermatoglogists for 2 years now.I need some advise.
