Severe deep scrape on shin exposing skin. pain is pretty severe.

	I have a deep scrape from sliding in softball a week ago. It is oozing yelloew fluid and the skin is still exposed. There is a lot of pain in my leg when i stand up and my ankles are swollen. Should i seek medical attention?

	Answer by Dr Bobby V, MD (doctor) on Mon 16, Jun 2008 09:47am: Hi, Your description sounds like an infection in your wound. With pain and ankle swelling, you should seek medical advise. Specifically, you should recieve a tetanus toxoid injection (in case you have not been recently vaccinated) and also antibiotics. Take care of the local hygiene too, with antiseptic wash two or three times a day. Wishing you all the best!
