Maca Root & Depo Provera

	Is it ok to take the herb Maca Root while on depo provera for birth control? I am interested in taking Maca Root for its many health benefits but it is also said to increase fertility & I didn't know if that would effect with the birth control.

	Answer by Dr JS Anand (doctor) on Sat 21, Nov 2009 06:30am: Hi, There’s no evidence to indicate that the Maca root interferes in the activity of the depo provera as per the side effects of the maca root which have been mentioned. However, there’s no definite back up in the form of a scientific study to confirm it won’t have any interaction. Hence, scientifically speaking, I can’t definitely say that there won’t be any interaction. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
