I have had deafness for 35 years. For the past several years I've suffered from many noises inside my head. In Feb 08 I underwent Cochlear Implant surgery. I, of course, hoped all along that the implant might solve the noise problem. Well, it didn't. Made a slight difference in variety but increased volumn of noises. I'm again meeting with my surgeon later this month; however, no one has been able to tell me where these noises originate from, especially radio announcers, singers and music. I'm a male 78 years old, and declared sane.

Hi, How are you? It is indeed a very unusual symptom. Usually auditory hallucinations occur in schizophrenia. Other causes include alcohol withdrawal, depression, drugs like amphetamine and narcolepsy (excessive day time sleepiness). Please discuss these with your specialist. Do keep us posted!
