I have my tubes tied and want to know if the procedure can be undone and what are the complications.

I had my tubes tied about 2 years ago and was wondering if the procedure can be undone? I have been divorced and recently engaged and my future husband would like to have a child. I am 42 years old and am afraid of complications.

Answer by Dr Noopur S, MD (doctor) on Fri 18, Jul 2008 06:43am:

Hi, Yes there are good chances of pregnancy after reversal of tubal ligation especially if the reversal is done surgically. Although there is a risk of ectopic pregnancy. Please discuss these issues with your OBGYN and keep us posted!

I have heard that you can use your own egg as well as your future husbands sperm and implant it back in your uterus. Its a long and costly process, but in this way you can help prevent many dangerous issues.
