I have extreme burning and itching in my chest, it itches and burns approximately 2 inches below my breast bone(clavical).Exhaust fumes, perfume, scented candles, spices, pungent odors,smell of onions irritate it. I have seen a Gatronologist, ENT And a Pulmonary dotor, they think it might be my high blood pressure pills. I have tried Atenolol(stomache burns)Micardis Hct(stomache problems)Lisinoprl(chest burns)Norvasc(stomache ache, hot,flushed)Cardura(chest burns)Benicar(cough, short of breath)Verelan pm(constipation) Dilt XR (itching).?????Any help would be greatly appreciated.I am 56 & I am unable to live a normal life like going to church or spending time with my grandkids since I have to be careful of any odors.

Hello longhorns27, Your symptoms clearly point towards acid peptic disease and also allergy to some particular substances. You should discuss with your physician what all drugs you are taking and consider changing any of them if you have reactions and allergy to some of those medications. Follow up with a gastroenterologist for the acidity related issues and take all precautions for the future. I would suggest you to maintain normal BMI and have a healthy balanced diet and have some lifestyle changes with regard to diet after discussing with your physician. Take care!
