	Hello, I am 40 years old. I am considerably overweight. 5 years ago, my left kidney was removed. 2 or 3 weeks ago I started feeling pain/cramp-like on my abdominal left side, which is a little swollen, and going down to my middle back. what could this be symptoms of? Had one missed period this month (not pregnant as I am not sexually active)which is not normal for me as I am very regular.

	Answer by Dr Vinod, MBBS,FcGP (doctor) on Fri 20, Nov 2009 10:25am: Hello belkys1268, One irregular period is of no problem and you have to see if this repeats and if you have any irregular bleeding then you should follow up with a gynecologist. You can miss a period with stress, sleeplessness etc. I would suggest you to take balanced diet and also exercise regularly. You should maintain a proper body weight and have a normal BMI. The pain in your lower abdomen can be related to menstrual pain and due to uterine contractions and if you continue having symptoms an abdominal scan may be useful. Take care!
