Ear pain and vertigo are they connected I have had the ear pain before, but it comes and goes

	This morning I had an episode of vertigo while laying in bed--I also noticed that I had ear pain in my left ear. About 4 hours later I had another short episode while laying in bed. I cleaned my ears with some peroxide--that helped with the ear pain, but I had a short episode of vertigo. I have not had another episode since then. Could these be connected?

	Answer by Dr Noopur S, MD (doctor) on Sat 19, Jul 2008 05:13am: Hi, How are you? Yes these two symptoms could be connected. Vertigo is often a symptom of inner ear diseases. Inner ear diseases like meniere’s disease or a benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) can cause vertigo. BPPV occurs only with changes in the position of head so it is less likely. I would suggest you to schedule an appointment with an ENT specialist. Do keep us posted!
