Cut that won't heal and may be getting infected

Asked by griff1981 (Female; 24; USA; Had asthma when I was young. Needed an inhaler from the age of about 6 to about 10. ) on Wed 17, Sep 2008 12:24am :

I had a cut about 3/4 of an inch on my big toe a little over a month and it has not yet healed. The bleeding was very minimal. The skin over the cut is red and around it is a bit yellowish. There is a lot of pussing and what may be a little bit of blood. The affected area has now spread from the rim of where the nail starts to grow to the middle of the toe where it bends. The affected area feels itchy and burns. It also looks like blisters (about 3 small ones) are forming under the affected area.I have been cleaning it with water and mild soap and using neosporine twice a day and covering it when I go out and letting it "breath" when I am at home. I have already consulted with 2 doctors (2 weeks ago.)One says that it looks like a virus and prescribed me acyclovir 400 mg. The other says it doesn't look infected and that I should just continue cleaning it. Did not prescribe or recommend me taking any medications. What should I do?
