Can a alcoholic breastfeed?

	I am alcoholic. I want to breastfeed my baby. After how much time can I breastfeed? Should I stop drinking if I am breastfeeding?

	Answer by Dr Bhupinder K, MD (doctor) on Wed 22, Jul 2009 02:54am: Hello, While you are nursing, avoid drinking alcohol because it can pass through your milk to your baby. If you choose to drink alcohol, drink it just after you nurse rather than just before. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
