I have chronic pancreatitis – I find that I can only eat Bordeaux cookies and
saltines and drink skim milk. I go to the grocery with menus in mind and I
can’t seem to buy anything else. Is this a medical condition of this disease or
is it a mental problem? I take Vicodin for the pain, which can be crushing.
Hi there . Your food fixation could be due to a repetitive mental recall of no pain association with the cookies and slimmed milk( low in fat, fat malabsorption is seen with pancreatitits) so unconsciously you seem to buy those very food items which have not resulting in any painful episodes after consuming them. I suggest a clinical evaluation if not already done recently for enzyme supplementation, any missed hypoglycemia due to pancreatic dysfunction. Consult your physician and endocrinologist for the best assessment. Regards.
