tingling pain in right forearm not getting better,could it be nerve damage?

	i have some numbness to the touch in my right forearm and if i put too much pressure on it or extend it too far, a sharp tingling runs through my arm. do you know what this could be? can something be done or will it heal on its own?

	Answer by Dr Paul S, MD (doctor) on Fri 23, May 2008 03:03am: Hi there. The symptoms that you are describing may be due to some nerve problem, probably with an element of compression. It is very hard to ascertain the specific nerve involvement without a formal neurologic examination. A local nerve problem due to a possible previous trauma or prolonged pressure (like when you sleep while you are sitting and place your head on the fore arm) can also cause some nerve damage which should eventually heal or improve. I suggest that you take this to your doctor so that you can be examined properly. He may request imaging studies such as MRI if he deemed it necessary. For now, avoid any injury or pressure to the area. Regards and God bless.
