for 2 days now I have had a slight pain, burning, pressure like feeling in the middle of my chest. At times it goes away, others, it stays on but never gets unbearable. Do I need to be overly concerned?

Answer by Dr Paul S, MD  on Fri 31, Oct 2008 02:47am:

Hi. For your age group and gender, for which ischemic cardiovascular disease is somewhat uncommon, the common causes for such would be that of musculoskeletal pain, costochondritis, and gastro-esophageal reflux. However, I believe it is still best to have this evaluated by your doctor just to rule out any serious causes (such as heart disease), and also receive treatment or medications if ever any of the above conditions I mentioned exists. Regards.
