personality disorders in connection with brain aneurysm

Asked by Unregistered (Male; 58; He has at least 2 inoperable brain aneurysms, he also smokes has high blood pressure and a stressful job. ; Relevant drugs:unknown ) on Thu 25, Dec 2008 11:52am

Is it possible that a brain aneurysm could cause personality changes? I am concerned about a friend at work who has been diagnosed with at least 2 inoperable brain aneurysms and lately has become angry, rude and cruel, for no apparent reason. If this could be the cause, is there anything we could do to help him?

Hi, Thanks for writing in. Stressful job, high BP seems to be more likely to cause these behavioral changes. Please make sure that his BP is under control and that his job stress reduces. These measures will help him in controlling his temper. Hope this helps!

My mother had an aneurysm that ruptured in 2004. Her personality is way different now than before. She is not angry or hateful but she basically has no emotions at all. Never happy. Never sad. Just basically indiffernt. I have heard of people that become angry and agressive after an aneurysm. Seems to be a somewhat common occurance.
