large and painful knot on my hip

i have a large and pain knot the size of an orange on my outer side hip, i went kayaking today and went on a rocky swim.... but seemed ok....when getting ready to leave the park area after the river trip ended my hip started to hurt, and i could feel a knot forming.....what could this be.....no discolor or brusing but a warm feeling with the pain

Hi, The pain and swelling could be due to many reasons like abscess formation, injury to soft tissues, cysts, etc. Tests like x-ray, blood test, ultrasound etc can be helpful for detecting the cause of it. You can take pain pills and anti inflammatory for relief. You must also consult an expert for the same. Hope it helps. Take care and keep posting.
