Answer by Dr Rowena S, MD  on Sun 26, Sep 2010 07:51pm:

Hi, How are you? Paralysis is usually caused by damage in the nervous system, especially the spinal cord. Other major causes are stroke, trauma with nerve injury, and many diseases. Cracking the back or neck may lead to trauma as well as nerve injury. Try to refrain from having your back manipulated by non-licensed medical personnel. Take care and regards.
