enlarged bump on tongue

Asked by debdab (Female; 62; UNITED STATES; nothing serious other than knee replacements 5 years ago and stomach acid problems; Relevant drugs:previcid daily ) on Fri 05, Mar 2010 03:23pm

Tongue seems a little swollen and I have, what I think, is a taste bud inflamed. It is located on the top almost center of the tongue. Irritation in mouth seems to happen after stomach upset. Several months ago it happened and I nipped off the top white dead part and it was level with the rest of tongue but it is happening again.-same spot. It is a little smaller than a pencil eraser and I've bitten it several times. The top is turning white again. The bump still has nerve ending because it is painful. I'm worried about what it is (cancer) and don't know who to see about it and having it removed.
