Hi, Welcome to ask medical doctor. From what you have described; it is likely that you are suffering from a medical condition called - BENIGN PAROXYSMAL POSITIONAL VERTIGO. This is due to disturbances in your inner ear. The term literally means - this is a non-life threatening condition with attacks lasting for less than a minute - where in a particular position the patient has vertigo or dizziness. This can be accompanied by headaches and nausea. The management involves an ENT examination by a specialist ; certain tests if required. The treatment involves certain at home exercises - http://www.emedicinehealth.com/benign_positional_vertigo/page6_em.htm#Self-Care%20at%20Home ; the most helpful being the epley maneuver; oral medications like meclizine and promethazine. For more information regarding this you should refer to - http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001420.htm When you go to your specialist , it would help to get your blood pressure and blood sugar checked too. Benign positional vertigo usually clears up on its own within a few weeks or months, even without any specific treatment. You can get back to us if you have any further doubts or queries. Regards.

Dear ANNE FRANCES, Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you we can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but we would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern. Apart from the possibilities suggested by Dr. Bhumika , I think dizziness, bad headache, eye twitching may originate from the neck problems (Cervical spondylosis) due to irritation in the cervical (neck) spine because the nerves that supply the back of the head start in the upper cervical spine. Additionally, other symptoms like lack of motor skills, feeling of tingling, cold symptoms can also originate from nerve irritation in back .Mostly, this kind of head pain aggravates after turning head and typically occurs in patients with previous neck injuries and in patients with marked arthritis of the upper cervical spine. In addition, this pain exacerbate with prolonged sitting in a stooped posture and when working on a computers for long hours. On the other hand, there are patients who experience similar pain (neuralgia) with migraine or any other brain/spinal cord disorder that need to be evaluated thoroughly. If you suffer similar symptoms continuously, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate further possibilities by CT/MRI scan here and can provide you an appropriate treatment like Pain killers, steroid and muscle relaxants. If this is a cervical spondylosis, treatment options could be cervical orthosis such as a soft cervical collar/stiffer neck brace to restrict neck movement. In addition, cervical traction may also be suggested by the doctor, if condition is severe. Hope this information proves helpful to you. Take Care & Regards!!!

Hi, I would like to support the suggestions made by DR Srivastava regarding your query. Also, after discussing your case with my colleagues we felt that it would be in your best interest to see a neurologist too and get a CT of your brain to rule out any cerebellar or brain stem lesions - which in some cases could present with the symptoms you have mentioned. Any further queries or doubts that you have would be responded to promptly. Take care!

I too have similar symptoms. I have a herniated torn C5- C6 disc also said to have cervical stenosis only 9mm though, there is obvious contact with the spinal cord, but no compression seen on lateral views, sagital views have appearance that cord is sqooshed down, but no evidence of echogenicty on the cord itself. I have so many symptoms, seen neurologist and had MRI with and without contrast of brain, shows nothing. I SEE stars when bending down, when turning my head ( neck is stretched too far? I have terrible terrible balance and dizziness, any head movement or eye movement is horrible although at times it is not as severe as others. If my other symptoms would help in noting, I have head pressure, when I lay down if I am ever able to fall asleep by accident, because typically sleep is long in coming with pain and trying to lay down, but when I do..I awake constantly and feel as though I have reading glasses sitting across eyes and ears....as soon as I sit up it will start to go away, and then repeat all night long!!! I have never heard of such symptoms, but I have them and many more...what is wrong with me!!! I also have very restricted ROM in neck, my legs feel stiff, urgent need to urinate upon standing, that I didn't feel when sitting, as said the balance is horrendous...and much more...but I also have other things that could contribute, I have severe jaw arthritis, TMJ, locked jaw 7mm from TMJ, carpal tunnel, de-quiverains tendinits all diagnosed by EMG, CT scans, MRI and an abnormal VNG caloric test....many things going on. I also have blepharospasm and they think maybe meige syndrome. I feel like I am dying, no answers just shifted from Dr to Dr for tests and then no treatment.
