Hi, im taking metformin 500mg four times a day for weight loss. i have been on the full dose for about 5 months now and still find it very dificult. should i be eating or avoiding any specific food? its also meant to help with pcos problems but as far as i can tell these are only getting worse. can you offer any advise as im really at the end of my tether with this. kind regards angela

Hello angelaiow, Metformin can be taken 2-4 times a day with a daily total dose of 0.5 to 2 gms. If you have any side effects you should visit your physician to change the drug. I would suggest you to avoid salts and also high calorie diet like fried food, desserts, ice creams, sweets, chocolates, and follow a strict balanced diet with high fiber and protein food with exercise, cardio in a regular manner.
