How i may have contracted this, the liekly hood that it may be a hhv 6 or 7 virus and the seriousness of this. also what are the chances that this could be passed onto to other people i am in close contact with. 	Answer by Dr. A. Srivastava (doctor) on Sun 22, Nov 2009 09:03am: Hi David, Rash may occur due to several reasons not just related to pityriasis rosea until it is confirmed by a doctor. But if this is pityriasis rosea, then cause is usually unknown. But the good thing is rashes caused by this are not serious and has no specific treatment.
