I'm not convinced my 3yr 10 mths child hasn't H1N1 virus, since last Thursday the 12th she's been running a temp. a hacking constant cough, vomiting, stomach ache, sleeping more than usual and wanting to be in a confined space on her own away from noise, it's now Wednesday the 18th and she doesn't show signs of improvement, as you can imagine I'm frantic with worry incase she gets worse, I have had her at my own gp, out of hours dr. over the weekend and even spoke on the phoned to my gp but no-one seems to bother saying it's just a virus, help. Answer by Dr Vinod, MD (doctor) on Thu 19, Nov 2009 09:17am:

Hello eileen crown, I suggest you to ask your pediatrician to do another test for H1N1. He can go for a more sensitive test by repeating the sample. There are other flu viruses which cause severe viral infection. Give proper symptomatic treatment and if required consider hospitalization with increase in symptoms and also with severe respiratory symptoms. Take care!
