	Answer by Dr. Harsha Priolcar (doctor) on Fri 13, Nov 2009 04:51am: Hello, At the moment, the US FDA only approves of Cytotec (misoprostol or prostaglandin E1)use in the treatment of gastric ulcers. Although Cytotec is also used to induce labor, it is not approved for this purpose and serious side effects such as uterine rupture, severe vaginal bleeding, shock and even maternal or fetal death have been reported.
