Night dizziness

	I maintain a blood sugar level of about 350-395 with or without medication. I've been diagnosed with diabetes for about 3 years. Within the last few months, I have developed facial twitching and a slight ear ache and the most distrubing thing is night dizziness. I am asleep and when I wake up and turn my head the whole room spins. I visited my doctor and he said my ears are normal and that the problem is my diabetes. Well last night the same thing happened again. I immediately checked my sugar and it was the same 350. This is my second attack. Once I get stable I develop a terrible headache and feel like I need to sleep. My ears still have a slight aching feeling for over two months; especially if I turn my head a certain way. Can you help?

	Answer by Dr. A. Srivastava (doctor) on Wed 11, Nov 2009 09:42am: Hi, A blood sugar level of 350mg/dl is too high to be called controlled diabetes. The symptoms you are getting are may be due to diabetic neuropathy. The normal range of blood sugar on an average is 70-150mg. I would strictly advice you to control your diet and consult an endocrinologist to help you bring back your normal sugar level and for further control in future. A neurologist's second opinion may also be helpful. Hope this helps.
