	I am 40 weeks pregnant and now have a rash all over my stomache and legs, should I call the doctor? Is it serious and what has caused it?

Srivastava (doctor) on Thu 05, Nov 2009 12:23am: Hi, As your pregnancy term is already due so I would definitely advice a gynecologic consultation for examining the progress of the baby and to rule out any possibility of C-section delivery requirement. The rash you are experiencing can be ‘Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP)’is a common rash in pregnant women. It usually occurs in first pregnancy during the third trimester with at around 35 weeks. The rash is very itchy, or pruritic but it is harmless to mother and baby. It may spontaneously regress after delivery. Hope this helps.
