MRSA infection in the sac that holds my testicles

Asked by willieb (Male; 62; Several instances of MRSA on my skin in the past. I have chronic jock itch and have been to a dermatologist several times about it, but still have it. Of course, I scratch it sometimes, and I know that that's the problem. I had mitral valve prolapse in 1992 and had open heart surgery to repair the villi on my valve. I have to be pre-medicated for dental work.; Relevant drugs:Bactroban ) on Tue 20, Oct 2009 08:40pm

I'm a 62 year old male and have an MRSA infection in the sac that holds my testicles. I have had MRSA in the past several times and recognize it. It is under the skin, but there is a white top on it, but under the skin. I put some Bactroban on it tonight. Will that do the trick, or do I need to go to the doctor and get a shot or something? I don't have insurance. Thank you.

Hi, MRSA (methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus) present usually as boils, abscess or cellulitis. This could be a boil or an abscess. But you should visit a GP for a physical examination and a confirmed diagnosis. Treatment includes oral antibiotic course and topical application. To prevent further spread and reoccurrence, you should follow measures like using antiseptic soap (chlorhexidine), frequent hand washing, use of gloves when touching the infected area and frequent change of clothing. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
