Stomach cramps for over a week

    
Asked by Unregistered (Female; 40; One child 5 years old, 3 miscarriages. I took home pregency test and it was negative; Relevant drugs:Birth control pills are taken daily - I never miss. ) on Tue 27, Jan 2009 01:53pm

I have been having stomach cramps similar to menstrual cramps for almost a week and I am not on my period. Occassionally I have more severe pain in my stomach. I have not had any bleeding.

The symptoms you have mentioned are suggestive of acute gastritis. The other symptoms include nausea, back pain, burning sensation in the chest along with abdominal (epigastrium) pain. This may be sometimes due to the contraceptive pills, which you are taking daily. I would suggest you to take plenty of fluids, antacids like omeprazole 20 mg daily before food, antispasmodics like spasmo proxyvon. Please avoid taking of spicy and oily foods. Meanwhile you can consult your GP for complete examination and proper treatment.
