Answer by Dr Smitha M, MD (doctor) on Sat 06, Sep 2008 09:21pm:

Hi, If your period was due in the first week of September and you had intercourse on the 29th of August, it is unlikely that you could be pregnant. This is because the egg is released from the ovary in the middle of the cycle, usually between 12th and 16th day of the cycle. However, some individuals may have irregular cycles and it is best to rule out a pregnancy with a urine pregnancy test kit that can be purchased over-the-counter at any chemist store. The period may have been lighter due to hormonal changes and need not be due to implantation, but it is necessary to test for pregnancy. Do keep us posted on any further doubts in this regard.
