My Mother had an ultra sound done. The results show a thick stomack lining, fat in both lungs and a small piece of liver has fat in it. Does this mean cancer. I have never heard of fat in the lungs.

To be able to diagnose cancer, several diagnostic tests needs to be done. Are there symptoms present? You have to discuss this with your doctor and clarify about the fat in the lungs. It is normal to have some fat in the liver. If found to be excessive, this may lead to inflammation of the liver. If the stomach is not well distended, the wall collapses and appears thickened. However, in a few cases, the wall thickening is a true abnormality and may be attributed to tumors of either the inner lining, infection, and gastrinoma. Further evaluation may need to be done to rule out other differentials.
