dizzy, nausea, shakes, feeling light headed

Asked by mleary (Female; 36; PCOS and pituitary tumor ) on Wed 11, Nov 2009 11:25am

I have been feeling dizzy, nausea, shakes, light headed. I thought I was hypoglycemic but my doctor tested me and said I was in the normal range. When I have checked my blood sugar levels at home when I am not feeling well they are usually in the low to mid 70's. I have also had high blood pressure for about the last 6 months (140/90). My doctor has done test on me and says there is nothing wrong, I know something is wrong I feel sick everyday.

Answer by Dr. Rajgopal, MBBS  on Sat 14, Nov 2009 07:04pm:

Hi, Your symptoms may be due to high blood pressure, use of blood pressure medications and Pituitary tumour. I would suggest you to go for MRI of the brain to know the extent of tumour and discuss the treatment with a neurologist. Surgical excision of the tumour may resolve the issue. Please consult a cardiologist to take proper treatment for hypertension as it aggravates your symptoms and could be a risk factor for stroke and other complications. Hypoglycemia is another causative factor, as you said that the sugar levels are low. Please take a well balanced diet including lots of fruits and vegetables. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
