	Answer by Dr.Rikesh Polavarapu (doctor) on Sun 13, Dec 2009 03:26am: Hello Janira, the active drug in robitussin is Guaifenesin.There are no studies done regarding usage of this drug in nursing mothers.Some studies showed that it is better to avoid Guaifenesin in 1st trimester as it is implicate in neural tube defects and inguinal hernia.So consult your Obstetrician before taking any drug.
