Hi,
HPV infection produces very different effects from that of HSV infection. If you have been exposed to HSV
infection, do have yourself tested with a blood test to confirm presence of infection.
You are right that the redness and pain could be due to the HSV infection, especially as it is associated with
the lesions that are little, fluid-filled vesicles. If there is severe pain that is aggravated by simple
touch, it points to an infection with HSV as it affects the nerves in a region.
Another differential that needs to be ruled out is herpes zoster. This is not really herpes but is an
activation of the varicella zoster virus (chicken pox) and can occur in individuals who have had chicken pox
in the past.
There is no cure for herpes infection, though there are treatment modalities that help manage the pain during
periods of reactivation. Ensure that you maintain your immune system well with immunity boosting agents, such
as vitamin C.
Do keep us posted.
regards,
