Hi Lisa.
How is your husband doing?
Can you remember the histology of the lung cancer based on the pathology report? What is stage of the
disease? Your husband underwent surgery to the lung to remove the tumor so I’m assuming the lung cancer is at
early stage that rendered it operable. Did he undergo further treatment after surgery?
What is the pathology report of the bowel tumor removed? Is it cancer?
If the bowel tumor turned out to be cancer, there are two possibilities in your husband’s case. First, the
bowel cancer may be related to the lung cancer especially when the histology is the same. But the bowel is
not a common site of recurrence of lung cancer. Second, there is also a possibility that there are two
primary sites of cancer: lung and bowel. In both scenarios, further treatment may be required to decrease
the risk of both local and distant recurrence.
