Answer by Dr Bhupinder K, MD (doctor) on Wed 19, Nov 2008 04:08am:

Hello, Anorectal foreign bodies are usually inserted transanally for sexual purposes. It should come ou ton its own,Ask your partner to do the valsalva maneuver. If still it does not come out, then medical intervention is required, preferably from a surgeon.Examination by physical examination and per rectum examination by a rectal speculum are required. The magnet may come out be digital speculation, but if it does not do so then rectal speculum or surgery(in extreme cases) may be required. In all cases, after the magnet has been removed, the doctor will perform an examination called sigmoidoscopy. This is done in order to be sure that there has not been any damage to the lining of the bowel, either from the initial insertion of the foreign body, or from attempts to remove the mgnet. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
