Swelling in Perineum

Asked by dmac_1 (Male; 42; UNITED KINGDOM; None other than I do suffer from IBS and sometimes pass blood. ) on Thu 03, Jun 2010 01:33am

I have developed a large swelling on my perineum back towards my Anus. There is no broken skin or obvious skin irritation. Having said that, I do sometimes suffer with severe itchinees around that area and my Anus. The lump is hard and doesn't seem to move when pressed. It did seem to come up quite quickly with a couple of days. Can anyone give me some advice? If, so, I would be really grateful!

Hi, This could be skin tag due to anal fissures, hemorrhoids, or warts etc. You would need a clinical examination and relevant investigations including blood tests, stool examination and if required a colonoscopy to find out the cause of your symptoms. It would be best to consult a surgeon for your symptoms to find out the cause of your complaints. Till then you could try eating a high-fiber diet, using stool softener, taking pain killer and having a sitz bath for your symptoms. Apply calamine lotion at the site, keep the area clean and well moisturized, wear lose, comfortable clothes and maintain good personal hygiene. Regards.

Lump in perinuem in male can be due to boil, cyst, hemorrhoid, abscess, fissure or some benign growth. It needs examination from a surgeon.
