I think that answer is very condescending and dismissive. There can be any number of reasons why she is gaining weight and having stomach pains and they are not all related to being "fat". I think, as a doctor, you could have delved a bit more thoroughly into all of the symptoms instead of just dismissing it out of hand as being overweight
