Sometimes I have a throbbing pain in the region from my anus to the beginning of my scrotum

I will sometimes randomly get a pain that shoots from what feels like right inside my anus to where my scrotum connects to my body. It really hurts and the only way I have found to make it feel better is to sit on the toilet and push like I am trying to poop even though I don't have to. The pain will usually subside after about 10-15 minutes but I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't anything serious.

Answer by Dr. Malathesh K  on Wed 25, Feb 2009 01:25am:

The symptoms that you have mentioned are suggestive of torsion of testis. Torsion of testis is the twisting of the spermatic cord, which cuts off the blood supply to the testicle and surrounding structures within the scrotum. This condition is more common in puberty. Some men may be predisposed to testicular torsion because of inadequate connective tissue within the scrotum. The other symptoms include swelling in one side of the scrotum, nausea and vomiting, Light-headedness etc. Some other causes for testicular pain are epididymitis, inguinal hernia, kidney stones etc. So, it is difficult to diagnose without proper examination. Please consult surgeon for complete evaluation and treatment.
