Skin Cancer - blisters appear to have turned into moles

Asked by Unregistered on Sun 09, Mar 2008 12:09pm

I am a 56 year old female who was diagnosed with GBS last March. Over the past year I have noticed red spots that look similar to blood blisters on several areas of my body...mainly the trunk area and breasts. Two of these blisters appear to have turned into moles. I have not yet contacted a dermatologist. Does this sound like it may be a type of cancer? Thank you for your time.

Hi, General advice would of course be to see your dermatologist soon. Your descriptions may be extensive, but an inspection by a trained eye may see much more. Some features that raise doubts that this is cancer is the location which is not exposed to light. Any area with a previous swelling may turn dark and resemble a mole. Some features that raise suspicion for malignancy include: asymetry, irregularity of borders, and nodularity. I'm uncertain whether you were referring to a Group B Strep infection or Guillain Barre Syndrome, but neither has a causal relationship.
