Dear doctor, My question is what may be causing my leg to be numb. The numbness is on the top and side of my right leg. Someone can stick a needle or even a hot poker on my leg and I would not know. The Pain is constant and onset sometimes throbs and some times I feel painful zaps down my leg. The numbness is up to the middle of my knee cap. And last if someone just pushes it alittle bit my pain jumps from a 6 to a 10 because that whole secetion of my leg feels like one big bruise. so whats going on here I cant take it, it even hurts to stand please answer please help me to understand. sincerley, Brian

Hi, It would be advisable if you see a bone and joint specialist / orthopedician to get a complete clinical examinaton and find out the cause of the symptoms you are having. You would need to rule out sciatica, nerve compression due to disc prolapse, spondylolisthesis, etc. The doctor would probably advise you to get certain investigations including xrays done. Let us know if you need any other information and post us on how you are doing. Regards.
