I'm a 45 year old woman who has stubborn hypertension. I was first diagnosed when I had my second child when I was 33. My pressure went up during delivery (C-section). Since then my blood pressure has been unstable. It's been a year since I've been on medication. I'm currently taking Altace 5 mg. (1x), Labetalol 200mg.(3x), aspirin 80mg (1x), Cartia (1x), however, on my last dr. visit a few days ago, my doctor has changed the Cartia to Norvasc 5mg (1x) and has added Hydralazine (3x). I haven't yet started the Norvasc and Hydralazine, so I'm not sure what effect I'll have on that. My pressure has been normal with the last medications I was taking, however, when I went to the dr.'s office, it went up to 180/90. The dr. told me that apparently I have "white coat syndrome" and prescribed the extra medication. All of my blood test came out negative and I have not apparent conditions. I am looking for a hypertension specialist in my area and haven't had much success. Could you please send me a list of doctors that I may go see regarding my hypertension. Thankyou.
