Minor Medical Question

Asked by smarriott (Male; 47; USA; Diebetes, Obesity, fatty Liver; Relevant drugs:Januvia, altace, & a form of metformin I think ) on Wed 17, Sep 2008 03:57am :

Monday afternoon I awoke & shortly after noticed that I had a small bump like an ingrown hair nearly right between the eyes actually atop my left eye between the eye & the nose. I started finding it very painful to the touch & the more I've tried to pop it or bust (rub) it the bigger & more painful it has become. I now have a headache but that I'm sure is from messing with it the last 12 hours or so. Any Ideas on what may be going on?I'm a diabetic & obese, 47 years of age. My Blood sugar has been in control & for the last month or so I don't have to use Insulin anymore, just oral meds for the diabetes.

Hi, This could be folliculitis or inflammation of the hair follicles which presents as a pimple like lesion with associated itching or pain. It usually resolve on its own and has a tendency to recur. It is important to keep the area clean and dry. Warm compress may also help. Avoid manipulating the lesion to avoid secondary infection. Over-the-counter medication may help with the pain. If it still persists, it would be best to have it evaluated by your doctor or have a referral to a dermatologist. Take care and regards.
