Hi,
If your dad has Muir-Torre Syndrome (MTS), then you should see a doctor for a physical examination.
MTS, as I am sure you know, is a condition where a skin (sebacious) malignancy and a visceral (eg
gastrointestinal or urinary) malignancy are both seen in a patient with some genetic defects. It is inherited
in a manner called "autosomal dominant" in genetic parlance. It also has "high penetrance"
ie it manifests symptoms in a majority of persons in whom this genetic defect is present.
You also have some urinary symptoms. This by itself may not mean anything serious. But given the background of
MTS in the family, it should not be ignored.
I think that the prudent course would be to get yourself evaluated by a physician. Explain to him your family
history. He may like to order some specialized genetic tests like MSI (microsatellite instability) and gene
sequencing for hMLH1 and hMSH2.
Also, not every child of a MTS parent gets the disease.
Good luck!
