I am recovering from hepatitis with an undetermined cause. It seemed to start with what I thought were flu symptoms. Docs
theorize I had reaction to Bactrim scrip for ear infection(I was only on it for 5 days). Otherwise,Hep (a-e), EBarr, Cytomeg
screens were all negative, as were autoimmune antibody screens. CAT, MRCP were both unremarkable. At their peak, enzymes
were: AST 177,ALT 358,ALP 294,GGT 212. Total bili slowly rose to 12.0. I had moderate itching, especially at night. Doctor
prescribed Actigall. Nine weeks later, my bili is 1.1, all enzymes are within or close to normal range. INR/PT was always
normal. Urine and stools back to normal. I look and feel well, have resumed work and light exercise. I am abstaining from
OTC pain meds (except for Bendadryl for itching) and alcohol. Do not take any other meds. I quit taking the Actigall one
month ago. I have always enjoyed good health and drank moderately. My question is, the only symptom I seem to still have is
a dull ache that comes and goes in liver region. Never severe and does not interfere with my activity. I cannot ascertain a
pattern. My liver specialist says this is normal part of recovery, that it could linger for some time. Do you agree, given
that labs are now normal?
