Knee Injury, concerned if it is healing right...

	I have injured my knee 3 days ago playing ultimate frisbee, my leg is swelled just above the knee, I can put weight on it with no problem or pain, though movement is limited. There is only pain when i try to bend my knee. I am just worried that it might not be healing right. I have had it in a knee brace since it happened and have been using an ice pack for 30 mins every 2 hrs like it says. I have no insurance and limited funds but, will go to the hospital if needed.

	Answer by Dr Noopur S, MD (doctor) on Tue 23, Dec 2008 10:04pm: Hi, Thanks for writing in. The difficulty in movement may be due to the swelling. The swelling may take 5-7 days to reduce. I would suggest you to continue with the brace and the ice packs for couple of more days and if there is no reduction in the size of the swelling and you develop pain please get it evaluated by your doctor to rule out dislocation or fracture.
