Im a runner who has a mild stinging feeling on my penis. I got it when I had jock itch. Is it jock itch or something worse?

	For about four to five weeks, I have had jock itch all around my private area. I started getting it because I have been running a lot lately and my shorts and underwear get soaked with sweat. Before I knew that I had jock itch, I thought that my underwear was rubbing when I was running so I stopped wearing them for a couple of days. Soon I started getting a mild stinging feeling on the shaft of my penis and now it seems to have gone to the top of the head of my penis. It really doesnt turn red and there are no bumps or blisters that I can see. I have been applying Tinactin to it but it doesnt seem to be helping. I went to the doctor but he didnt help. All he did was prescribe me a prescription that treats jock itch. I look on the internet trying to find out what it could be and they say that jock itch cannot be on the penis. So Im worried that it could be a STD or something like that. But I dont know how it could be one. I havent been sexually active in over four months. And when I was, I always used a condom. I did have a really bad outbreak of herpes on the lip about 3 months ago but I washed my hands really well whenever I put my medicine on. I dont know if it spread to my penis some how or not. Im really worried. Please help.

One is recurrent herpes type 2 infection & other is fungal infection tinea cruris. In your case, since you are a runner, who sweats a lot it favors tinea infection. Where clinical symptoms include, itchy lesions mainly in groins, scrotum & sometimes extending onto the shaft of the penis.i advice you to take consultation with dermatologist.
